DIYs for Empty Jars

But First, Cleaning it Out

  1. Float your candle jar in a double boiler and slowly warm the jar.
  2. Warm until the remaining wax melts to a liquid but the jar is not too hot to the touch. If the jar does get too hot, remove the double boiler from the heat source and allow to cool until able to handle.
  3. Pour on top of used paper towels, tin foil, noodle cup garbage, whatever you've got that can contain the old wax from making a mess in the trash. NEVER pour wax down a drain.
  4. Wipe out with paper towel, wiping away flower decoupage.
  5. Soak hemp sticker label in water, gently use a bank card or nail to peel. For adhesive residue, use lemon essential oil and a paper towel to wipe clean.
  6. Wash with soap and water, using a cleaning tool that is not used for food.

DIY Ideas to Try

1. Sugar Scrub

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/8 cup coconut oil (melted) or skin-safe oil of choice
  • ~15 drops skin-safe essential oil of choice

Instructions

  1. Put sugar in a large bowl, ensuring there aren't clumps.
  2. Microwave coconut oil in 20 second increments until melted.
  3. Once oil is melted and slightly cooled, add essential oil and stir.
  4. Pour oil over sugar and mix.
  5. If the mixture is too wet, add more sugar until you reach your desired consistency. I prefer a fluffier consistency.
  6. Transfer to your cleaned tin or jar.
  7. Scrub away!
